Optimum Opti-Coat Pro (Opti-Guard)

Opti-Coat Pro (Opti-Guard) is a hard wearing, aftermarket, ceramic clear coat for superior resistance to scratching (9H) and chemical etching from environmental impacts. It provides permanent protection for all factory paints, and can also be applied to exterior glass, metal and hard plastic surfaces.

Opti-Coat Pro is not a wax or sealant like other products on the market. It is a ceramic clear coating very similar to factory type clear coats. A layer of Opti-Coat Pro measures approx. 2 microns in thickness, or about 100 times thicker than your typical wax or sealant. Unlike paint protection sealants such as PTFE, Nano Sealants, GlassPlexin that degrade over time and are easily removed through washing with water or chemicals, Opti-Coat Pro does not degrade and cannot be removed by chemicals such as heavy duty truck wash or even caustic degreasers. It is totally resistant to these chemicals and produces a permanent film that is chemically bonded with the factory paint layers. Opti-Coat Prois effectively the vehicles new outer clear coat. It is far more resistant to chemical etching than factory clear coats and far more resistant than competing paint protection sealants. The 2 micron layer also provides a thick buffer between any damage and the factory paintwork.

● Sticker and Decal surfaces
● Panoramic roofs if applicable
● Sun roofs if applicable

How Do we apply Optimum Coating/Opti-Guard?
As how we explain above, Optimum Coating is permanent. Therefore, the paint surfaces has to be prepped properly before any application is done. If there is contamination on the paint, it will be permanently bonded under the coating. That is why Optimum Coating has to be professionally done so that the surface can make a difference.

What makes Optimum Coating So Different?
A single layer of Optimum Clear Coating measures approximately 2 microns in thickness. When compared to other paint protection products, Opti-Coat is more than 100 times thicker, with tests showing a wax coating measuring less than 0.02 microns. With this thickness, this allows Optimum Coating to effectively absorb damage that would otherwise affect the factory paint layers. Swirl marks and light scratches are not only decreased by the harder Optimum Ceramic Coating, the factory paint is protected and preserved.

Optimum Coating is completely resistant to acidic environmental substances such as bird droppings. Unlike your factory clear coating that can be permanently damaged,Optimum Coating will not etch or dissolve when in contact with these substances, and a clean, glossy clear coating is maintained.

Can Optimum Coating protect the Factory paint?
Certainly. A single layer of Optimum Coating measures approximately 2 microns in thickness and allows the coating to effectively absorb damage that would affect the factory paint layers. The thick outer layer of Optimum Coating decreases damage to the coating underneath the Opti-Coat.

Can the effects of Optimum Coating be seen with the naked eye?
Yes, you will be able to notice a higher definition in gloss and shine after the Opti-Coat cures. The surface after a fully cured Opti-Coated surface is rather tacky feeling as the coating provides a water beading or "Lotus Effect" on the coated paint surface.

Please take a look at the video links below on what is Lotus Effect.

Are there benefits of applying Optimum Coating?
Yes, Optimum Coating will provide a premium clear coat film that is highly resistant to chemical etching, harder than factory clear coat to reduce swirls and scratches, and a permanent hydrophobic surface that is easier to clean and stays cleaner for longer times. By maintaining a quality finish using the Optimum Clear Coating, you'll also maintain a solid resale value when it comes time to upgrade to a new vehicle.

How Does Optimum Coating Works?

Optimum Coating works by bonding to your factory clear coating and becoming a permanent part of your vehicles paint system. Just like the clear coat bonds to the base coat, Optimum Coating bonds chemically to the clear coat.

Initially, the technician will assess the paint work for defects and contamination. All surface contamination and any necessary defects are removed. Once this stage is complete, the paintwork is prepped and cleaned using an alcohol based cleaner and ready for coating.

The Optimum Clear Coating is mostly self leveling. Any high spots are manually leveled by the technician to produce an even coat. Once complete, the surface is touch dry within 30 minutes.

The Optimum Clear Coating continues to cross-link and harden. Within 12 hours it is resistant to liquids such as water and can be driven as normal by the client. Optimum Coating will then continue to harden over the next 30 days as it is exposed to heat.

What is the amount of duration to apply Optimum Coating?
Applying Optimum Coating may take about 1-2 hours. However, the preparation process usually takes a much longer time for about 3-5 hours. The preparation includes removal of defects to ensure a defect-free surface and to remove all contaminants such as road tars. The most important part is the curing period of the coating which takes about an hour or less.

Can waxes and sealants or polish be used on a Optimum-Coated car?
Yes, you may apply although it is not necessary. After the application of Optimum Coating, it will be permanently be part of your car's paint system. Even if you polish/wax/sealant, it will remove contaminants on the Optimum Coating and it will improve the quality of the coating.

Differences between Opti-Coat 2.0 and Opti-Guard
Opti Guard is a more concentrated professional version of Opti Coat 2.0. It takes more care to apply and cures faster. If applied correctly, it should provide a thicker coat. But will vary with application methods and amount used. If the same installer used both in the same manner, Opti Guard would be thicker. Professionals will prefer Opti-Guard because they can give the car back to the customer sooner without concerns about exposure to the elements and it will reach full hardness faster so its ready for real world exposure sooner.

Consumers will prefer Opti Coat 2.0 because it applies like Opti Seal which is very easy. You can easily cover an entire panel before it flashes, you have more time to spread it over the panel before you'd have a problem, and if you do have a high spot that dries you can fix it by hand with Optimum Finish instead of needing a machine and compound. Less experience an effort are needed.

As for the resin, the attributes and performance are the same with both: improved scratch, chemical, and environmental resistance/faster cleaning with less effort/dramatically less chance of etching from leaving contaminants on the surface. It may still stain, but won't permeate like normal clear coat will even with waxes/sealants applied.

The main difference is cure time and thickness per application. Opti Coat 2.0 can't be applied on glass surfaces and plastic surfaces as well.
